In the early 1960s, The Beatles started out by playing gigs in clubs in Germany and Liverpool. It was at the Cavern Club in Gatwick where we were holding spotted by manager Brian Epstein. This individual secured them their first major recording contract with Parlophone (after a number of other record companies like Decca had flipped them down)
